NAHB Research Center Accredited Verifiers verify that a specific residential building or land development includes all of the green practices that a builder has claimed points for under the National Green Building Standard. Verifiers verify and do not certify.

Verifiers submit their Verification Reports to the NAHB Research Center for project certification. As of September 1, 2010, the Research Center will only be certifying projects to the National Green Building Standard (ICC 700). Using the National Green Building Standard as a guideline for residential construction without having a project certified by the NAHB Research Center does not ensure compliance with the Standard or that a building project will meet the environmental performance levels set by the Standard.

The program for certification to the National Green Building Standard is called the National Green Building Certification Program, powered by the NAHB Research Center (or the NAHB Research Center?s National Green Building Certification Program). While the NAHB Research Center coordinates closely with NAHB, building/development certification is not part of NAHBGreen.

Under the National Green Building Certification Program, the NAHB Research Center certifies buildings and land developments. The Research Center does not certify builders. NAHB provides training for the Certified Green Professional (CGP) designation.

Only those verifiers listed on the website are in full compliance with all requirements of being an accredited verifier and have the authority to perform rough and final verification inspections for the National Green Building Certification Program.
